Fierce Flix

Fierce Flix is a non-profit social justice project that provides mentorship, film and media education, and leadership development to trans, non-binary, queer, and femme youth in Western North Carolina.

Our goals are to interrupt a system of patriarchal gender inequality and support a youth led movement for social change through film.

Camp Dates:

June 17-21, 2024

Name your favorite female film director? Trans film director? Nonbinary filmmaker?

Camp started in 2016 as a way to remedy the fact that so many young folks we knew couldn’t answer those very questions. The gender gap in filmmaking is real, and has repercussions not just in the roles young folks take up on and behind the camera, but in the stories that are told and how we tell them. Fierce Flix aims to give young trans, nonbinary, queer, and femme youth an opportunity to take back the screen, in the hopes that they know the power of their voices and visions.

Fierce Flix is a volunteer run nonprofit. We welcome new members to our community! Please come help us plan and run camp!

Year round, our volunteers work to build the resources, secure donations, and plan the week of camp. For one week in the summer, we all get together to be the fierce queer, trans, enby, and femme community of our dreams. If you’re interested in volunteering during camp or year round - please reach out!

“Volunteering with Fierce Flix is an experience rooted in community, curiosity, and queer joy. One of the best weeks of my whole year.”

-Lily James, Chaos Coordinator & Vibes Squad
